Curls with a Straightener? #hairhack
To some of you, this may be how you have done your hair for years but to others... this is about to make your mornings SO much easier!
Last week, I was spending time with my always stylish friend and her hair looked AMAZING. Shout out to YOU beautiful Brittany! Of course, me being me, I asked her what she curled it with. Her response "with my straightener". I used to LOVE doing this because it would save me so much time in the morning. A little back story on my hair. When I was a kid, it used to be slightly curly. Curly enough that I could put some product in it, scrunch it and walk out the door. Well, I've totally fried my hair and curls NO MORE. Strictly a kinky frizzy mess. With that said, I have to start with straightened hair before I put a curling iron to it. Otherwise I end up with a very strange looking situation.
I'm sure some of you can relate to this. By using a straightener, it solves two problems at once and cuts down on your styling time so much. The other bonus is that you can make the curls as loose or tight as you want just depending on how much you turn the iron.
What you are going to need is a thin straightener. Here is the one I use and love. It's so affordable and I've been using it for years. You will just take small sections and run the straightener over once to smooth the hair and the next pass one you will turn the iron AWAY from your face. I mean, I guess that is personal preference but I think it's a more modern look when the curl goes away from your face. Remember, if you just want a slight bend or beach wave, only turn the iron a tiny bit and leave about an inch of hair straight at the end. If you want a more curled and polished look, turn the iron more and follow all the way to the end of the hair.
So there you have it! A hair hack that will save you plenty of time in the mornings. We all need that don't we?
